Tawanui Station

Tawanui Station is located on the Oruakukuru Road; approximately 2km from the Parapara turn-off.

The primary function of this property is to grow the breeding, store and prime livestock to target live-weights. This Station will also finish up to 40% of the lambs breed and some cattle. All other stock is finished on Ohotu Station.

The future challenges for this Station are to improve its soil fertility, pasture management and overall financial performance.

In October 2008 a testing mast to measure the wind flows will be erected by mighty River Power to ascertain the viability of establishing a wind farm near the upper ridge of the Otirinui bluff that boarders the property. In April 2008 AWHI erected a pou tiaki named Te Hononga as the guardian for the site.
